The flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, of the biggest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) has gone to introduce his recently outdoor running mate, Prof. Naana Agyemang Opoku to the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace, in Kumasi.
The Asantehene is the ruler of the Asante people ethnic group and the Kingdom of Asante and Asanteman, the homeland of the Asante people ethnic group, historically a position of great power. The current Asantehene is Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, born Nana Kwaku Dua, who ascended as the 16th Asante king in April 1999.
Yesterday, the 26th August 2020, the NDC party led by John Mahama went to visit the Asantehene with his running mate to introduce him to her.
This comes after he had introduced Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to the Clergy as well as the National Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
