Students in the Ghana Institute Of Journalism (GIJ), return back to school to continue lessons as UTAG calls off its strike.
GIJ works under the umbrella of the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana and as such it has to conform to the association’s bidding and rules- restricting teachers from teaching during a strike is one of them.
Students seem to be putting up lukewarm attitudes as studies continue and others are excited as they go back to school to cover up untreated topics for semester examination. The weekend students as usual will begin their lectures tomorrow, 21st August, 2021, and the regular students will begin theirs on 23rd August, 2021.
The strike really proofed fatal and caused lapses in students’ academics. It also delayed time and created educational inefficiency within the university. Since UTAG has called of the strike, Lecturers can perform their duties in order to aid students make up for the lost time.
