The Nigerian award-winning songstress, Tiwa Savage, has earned an honorary doctorate in music from the University of Kent in England for her growing and international music career.

Tiwatope Savage -Balogun, as she is originally called, earlier bagged a degree in Accounting from Kent University. She is also a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts.
On Friday, the mother of one said in her acceptance speech that she is to be referred to as “Dr Savage from now on”. In an Instagram post, she writes “The Dr will see you now”

She shared her struggles with the class of 2022, highlighting how she had been globally ridiculed a couple of times. According to her, she’s been bullied severally and was even suspended from school, among other incidents.
She went ahead to state that despite her challenges, she’s succeeded in becoming a leading figure in Afrobeats.

In giving her speech during the ceremony, the singer congratulated the fresh graduates, urging them to do their best.
Tiwa said, “I just want to say a huge, huge congratulations to all of you. Well done. I’m super proud! I want you to go out there, have fun, kill it, and be the best ‘you’ you can be because you truly deserve it.”
The university tweeted saying that they are super proud to have awarded the Queen of Afrobeats an honorary doctorate.
