Lionel Messi’s Father and agent has told La Liga that his son €700million release clause in his Barcelona Contract is not valid .
Messi ,33 ,told the Spanish giants that he wants to leave this summer after 20 years on their books last week and refused to extend his contract only having one year left.
Barca don’t wants the player to leave and indicated that he has €700million release clause which has to be met first ,and La Liga issued a statement that they will not re-register Messi unless the clause is met.
In a letter on Friday, Messi’s Father said that his son’s contract does not specify a date when the option to leave must be exercised, only that it must be done at the end of the campaign.
Recent reports had suggested that Messi was now set to stay in Spain, to see his final year at Barcelona.
