OSEI KYEI MENSAH BONSU IS SET TO PRESENT 2021 BUDGET IN OFORI ATTAH’S ABSENCE

The Minister Designate for parliamentary affairs in Ghana, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu who is also a Ghanaian urban planner and a politician and currently doubles up as the majority leader in the Ghanaian Parliament will deliver the 2021 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Friday, 12 March, 2021. He will step into the shoes of the Finance Minister-designate, Ken Ofori-Atta who is receiving treatment from an ill-health outside the country.

There was earlier information that, the Veep of the Republic of Ghana, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen are people being considered to deliver the budget in the absence of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Attah, but they have confirmed that Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who is also the majority leader will deliver the address instead of the names mentioned earlier.

OFORI ATTAH’S  COVID-19 ILL-HEALTH

The Ministry of Finance, who is in charge of delivering the budget statement in parliament to the nation released a press statement announcing the departure of the finance minister, ken Ofori Attah to abroad after battling with covid-19. The statement had it that, the Minister was flying to the United States to receive medical attention after battling with covid-19.“After the Finance Minister recovered from Covid-19 last December, he has had serious medical complication which the doctors advise require further intervention which is not currently available in Ghana”, an excerpt of the statement stated.
